Traffic relief on the way for drivers in the University District

SPOKANE,Wash. --- Traffic relief is on its way for drivers in the University District.

The second phase of the Martin Luther King Way project is underway.

The goal of the project is to ease traffic congestion in the area. Vehicular traffic will be moved away from the Riverpoint campus.

Crews have been working on phase two between Sherman and Erie Streets in Spokane.

“This is a great new corridor for the City of Spokane”, said Kyle Twohig, an engineering operations manager. “It is going to remove a tremendous amount of vehicular traffic from our University District area.”

Twohig added that making the ground area level is a big part of creating the new roadway near the University District. Read more.
