The Downtown Spokane Business Improvement District and SCRAPS are partnering to bring a one-day, pop-up dog park to downtown at the Tribal Gathering Place next to City Hall.

On June 23, between the hours of 10am and 2pm, four-legged staff are invited to come and experience a variety of activities at the temporary dog park and enjoy a dog-fair job-fair.

Activities include:

  • Training sessions
  • Doggie fashion show
  • Adoptions
  • Pet ownership etiquette
  • Food Trucks
  • Music
  • Games
  • Prizes
  • And much, much more!

SCRAPS will be on hand with leash stations to help your furry employee of the month socialize in a safe environment.

“Trends nationwide in the office are turning more and more to being dog friendly,” says Downtown Spokane Marketing and Programming Manager, Elisabeth Hooker. “In addition we’re expecting future living units in the downtown area to be pet-friendly, and we want to prepare our community for the etiquette of keeping your animal in an urban space.”

Participants are requested to secure permission with their employer before bringing a dog into the work place, as well as pay attention to posted rules inside individual businesses regarding animal friendliness. “The more respectful we are of existing boundaries, the better relationship we can cultivate to open the door to future pet-friendliness,” says Hooker.

Waste receptacles will be on hand for proper “doggie bag” disposal.
