Gonzaga's business, accounting accreditations affirmed

SPOKANE, Wash. – In recognition of its excellence in business education, the Gonzaga University School of Business Administration has once again received affirmation of its business and accounting accreditations by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The accreditation status, which is reviewed every five years, will be assessed again in 2021.

Less than 5 percent of the world’s business programs – 780 business schools in 53 countries and territories – hold AACSB accreditation. Further, only 185 institutions maintain an additional specialized AACSB accreditation for accounting.

“We continue to be driven by our values of excel, engage, and inspire,” said Ken Anderson, dean of the School of Business. “Our commitment to these values can be seen in the AACSB’s recent decisions to extend the accreditation of our business and accounting programs. The fact that less than 200 business schools worldwide have earned accreditation in both these areas is a testament to the quality of our students, staff, and faculty and to the tremendous support we receive from our partners. All of these groups as well as the administration of Gonzaga University deserve our heartfelt thanks.”

The School of Business enrolls approximately 1,225 undergraduate students in two undergraduate degrees – Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Administration – with 10 possible concentrations.  The Graduate School of Business enrolls approximately 250 students in three degrees – Master of Business Administration, Master of Accountancy and Master of Taxation. Originally accredited in 1990, the School of Business Administration has more than 60 full-time employees including 45 full-time faculty.

Other accolades received by the School of Business include being ranked as one of the Top 10 schools to study business for 2015-16 by USA Today. U.S. News and World Report has ranked the accounting program in the top 30 for the past six years, as well as the MBA program in the top 100 in the nation since 2010.

Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. “AACSB commends each institution for their exemplary work in holding the highest honor in business school accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “During this peer-review process schools must demonstrate alignment with AACSB’s global accreditation standards, as well as how they encourage engagement, innovation, and impact across the communities they serve.”
