WSU Health Sciences Checkup | August 2024
Thursday, August 15, 2024
Dear Friends,
As we welcome a new academic year and our next class of outstanding Cougs to the WSU Spokane campus, I want to acknowledge the incredible investment of every person who has helped our students along their journey. From community leaders and teachers to parents, families, and friends, each student is here thanks to their individual hard work and their community's investment in their future. In turn, our goal is to provide our future healthcare providers, researchers, and educators with the very best education we can provide, one that saves lives and transforms those same communities.
Each of the over 300 students who make up our incoming class is on their way to becoming your next health professional. Over 87% of our students claim Washington as their home. One of them might even come from your hometown! When asked about their career goals or what they want to do with their degree, many of them share that when they graduate, they wish to help people in their community. As Cougs, they are determined, hard-working, and not afraid of a challenge. As our state continues to grapple with health professional shortages in all its 39 counties, WSU is proud to educate students who are part of the solution, ensuring communities, particularly rural and underserved, continue to have access to quality care for generations to come.
