Washington’s $27M Andy Hill CARE Fund Announces New Grants for WA-Based Companies and Research Organizations

Washington’s Andy Hill Cancer Research Endowment (CARE) Fund has $27M to invest in in academic and industry led cancer research projects this biennium. The current grant round supports projects from companies, research institutions, and other eligible organizations to translate promising research and scientific discoveries into the development of tools, devices, technologies, therapeutics, or interventions related to cancer. Eligible projects can span from proof-of-concept to product launch and commercialization, aiming to advance cancer care and improve health outcomes.
This RFP is part of the CARE Fund’s new funding cycle. Over the next two years the CARE Fund plans on supporting four grant cycles with RFPs being issued roughly in January and June each year while also developing co-funding partnerships on a rolling basis. Upcoming grant opportunities include:
- Scientific Discovery Research Grants (January Release): Supporting breakthrough cancer research
- Implementation & Outcomes Grants (June – now open): Advancing the application of scientific discoveries
- Co-Funding Partnerships and Collaborations (Rolling): Co-investing in innovative and equity-centered cancer research initiatives
The current Implementation & Outcomes Grant requests can range from $250,000 to $1,500,000 and the application deadline is August 13, 2024. Eligible applicants include Washington state companies, higher education and research institutions, local health jurisdictions, Tribal governments, nonprofit institutions, and Urban Indian Organizations. All projects must promote cancer research to benefit the people of Washington state.
