INTENT hosts Regional Sustainable Energy Strategy Workshop May 9

Thursday, May 9, 2024

Please join us on May 9th for a conference and workshop at the Washington State University Spokane campus to explore regional needs and opportunities for equitable and sustainable energy development. This is the next phase of an ongoing regional collaboration focused on technology and infrastructure development, the associated workforce needs, community opportunities, and how related business models can feed regional economic development.

Nationally, we are not on track to meet the clean energy and zero-carbon goals set for 2050. Our region has a unique set of energy resources and partners that can make a difference for our community and nation to meet sustainability goals while driving economic and workforce development. This effort aims to position the inland Northwest as a national leader for the clean energy transition.

Regional energy partners in 2023 established the Inland Northwest Center for Energy and Decarbonization (INTENT) to elevate this conversation, discovery, and help prioritize opportunities. INTENT, with Urbanova as the non-profit lead, competed and was awarded a $1M National Science Foundation (NSF) Engine Development planning grant to elevate this work. This conference is a key opportunity for the group to more broadly engage to help inform and shape this important effort. Your input is needed.

There are virtual attendance capabilities that are being developed. We all know the benefit of personal attendance and the networking that only occurs when we are together and encourage you to come in person. Lunch and parking will be provided with more details to follow. We encourage ride-sharing or alternate transportation to help sustainability. There is limited capability to cover participant travel and related costs to attend. Contact finance@intentenergy.org for details.
