Gary Schneidmiller generously donated this statue to celebrate the cherished tradition of a live cougar mascot at WSU, spanning more than half a century, from 1927 to 1978. In homage to this tradition, Butch returns home with Cougar Pride, dedicated in honor of Manuel ('41, WSC) and Gladys Schneidmiller, Gary's parents. WSU Spokane's statue marks the third of five installations systemwide.
"I am hopeful that Cougars everywhere rekindle and reconnect with
that special WSU feeling when they visit Butch." - Gary Schneidmiller
