Whitworth launches Pines Press

Whitworth University is pleased to announce the launch of Pines Press, a publication imprint under the Washington State University Press, a member of the Association of University Presses.
Whitworth's Pines Press is committed to publishing well-written, well-researched books, particularly those with an attention to the history, environment, people, culture and heritage of the greater Northwest region.
Pines Press will publish in a wide variety of genres, and as a university press imprint based at a liberal arts college campus, will seek to support a culture of the liberal arts as a deep-rooted knowledge base.
The inaugural Pines Press Advisory Board is composed of Amanda Clark, chair of the board and dean of the library & special programs; Bert Emerson, director of the Whitworth Honors Program; Erica Salkin, associate dean of the College of Arts & Sciences; Megan Griffin, associate professor of special education & applied behavior analysis; Anthony Clark, professor of history; Sophia Du Val, assistant professor & scholarly communications librarian; and Dawn Isherwood, visiting librarian.
“I'm thrilled to embark on this partnership with Washington State University Press,” Amanda Clark said. “To be a part of upholding rigorous academic publishing at a university press that supports scholarship is a longtime dream. As someone who spends a great deal of time in the field of books and libraries, it's exciting to be a part of supporting some of the best parts of higher education – knowledge creation and distribution, the sharing of wisdom.”
The collaborative process of producing published manuscripts is divided between the Whitworth board and those at the WSU Press. Proposals are already being considered, and the first book publications are anticipated in print within the next year.
