Special Thanks to Frank Velázquez, MD for his UD Board Service

Wednesday, December 6, 2023

The University District board celebrated Dr. Frank Velázquez's board service at their December 6 board meeting.

Frank, thank you for your exceptional service to the University District. For the last six years around our board table, you have been an invaluable resource, guide, and expert advisor to us on all things life sciences and healthcare both locally and nationwide.

After an academic career that included earning an MD and a master’s in healthcare management and policy from Harvard University School of Public Health, you went on to hold leadership positions at healthcare and academic institutions in Massachusetts, New York, Michigan, and Texas. You also led several companies in California before moving to Spokane in 2012 to become the President and CEO of Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories (PAML).

As we know firsthand, Frank has been a key consultant to healthcare and technology companies, led healthcare and economic initiatives in the Spokane area, and served on boards and leadership groups at our local universities, medical schools, and organizations such as GSI, Life Sciences Washington Institute, Spokane Symphony, United Way, and the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture.

During a very difficult time to say the least, Frank assumed the helm of Spokane Regional Health District and helped our community navigate through the pandemic.

Frank, from all of your fellow board members (past and present), we extend sincere thanks and appreciation for your longstanding contributions and service to the UD.
