WSU Celebrates Native American Heritage Month

Thursday, November 16, 2023

This summer, the Center for Native American Health Sciences at WSU launched, OLD WAYS, a learning opportunity designed for first-year WSU medical, nursing, and pharmaceutical students to build their capacity centered around Indigenous and traditional knowledge and increase their understanding of the history of American Indian/Alaska Native people. Watch our recap video and hear from students about their experiences!

WSU’s Native American Health Sciences introduced the Indigenous Healing Perspectives Certificate to educate health care providers and others on how to better serve Indigenous communities. The four courses cover Native American history, especially as it pertains to health and healing; Native American health policy, law and advocacy; Native American health trends; and Native American health perspectives. All courses are taught by Indigenous health leaders and educators.
