Friday, June 17, 2022

Saranac Art Projects is pleased to announce its Membership Scholarship for the calendar year, 2023.  This year long scholarship will be awarded to one new emerging artist. If you are or know of an artist who would benefit from a full year’s membership in our contemporary artist collective, please forward this email and attachment. The application period is now open and will close on October 31, 2022.

SARANAC ART PROJECTS:
Saranac Art Projects is a non-profit artist cooperative designed to support and educate artists and their communities while inspiring a vibrant contemporary art culture. Located in Spokane, Washington, we bring together artists and curators who represent the diversity of artistic thought in the Inland Northwest. Artist established, operated, and supported; SAP is a cooperative that has been dedicated to supporting artists in Spokane since 2007.
Gallery Hours of Operation: Friday, 12 – 8; Saturday, 12 – 8
HOW THE 1 YEAR SCHOLARSHIP WORKS:
The scholarship membership lasts for one full year; January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023. The full year’s membership dues will be paid for by the scholarship; 12 months, at $60 per month. The rights and responsibilities will be the same as any other full-time member. The application process will be the same as for any other applicant; the applicant’s materials will be viewed by the current members, who will then vote. See the application process below.
The scholarship member will be able to remain an SAP member after the one year is over, but they must pay their own dues from that point forward.
THE BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP:
1. SAP members have the opportunity, once a year, to present their art for public viewing, including work that may be challenging or non-commercial, including installation, performance, video and beyond.
2. Each artist also has the opportunity to interact with the larger Spokane community not only at the opening and while gallery sitting, but also during monthly community outreach programs organized by members.
3. Members also may have the opportunity to curate a show. A member may use their annual slot to show work other than their own. This could include a group show curated around a theme, a juried show, a two-person exhibit, etc.
4. SAP is an arts organization that provides a supportive network for our members. We are dedicated to discussing new ideas, collaborating, and supporting each other as needed.
5. All members’ dues are tax deductible.
6. Any sale of artworks will be arranged by those members sitting in the gallery, or between the artist and the collector directly. SAP charges a 20% commission on any work sold, and a greater donation would be very generous.
