Saranac Art Projects is pleased to present Accidental Intimacy; collaborative works by Jenny Hyde, Rachel Smith, Lenora J. Lopez Schindler Richard J. Schindler.

Description:

Jenny Hyde & Rachel Smith

Jenny Hyde – Jenny’s new works demonstrate an exploration of digital drawing and mark making. Based on photographs of popular sites within Yellowstone National Park, these works are a blend of photo-based imagery and drawing. The digital drawings play with the options of digital output, using the laser printer, the plotter, and the inkjet printer.

Rachel Smith – Rachel’s new works investigate the complexities of the individual and the collective, relating to memory, communication, and materials within process driven mixed media, performance, and installation. She uses found and non-traditional materials to explore the duality between the individual and the collective as it shapes the construction of personal, societal, and historical memories.

“Lena” & “Dick” are married artists.  Over the past twenty years they have frequently collaborated. Sometimes it is a casual collaboration and other times it is more intentional.  For “Accidental Intimacy” they decided to explore a very intentional collaboration.  They selected a series of Dick’s sculptures and set them up as figure models in their outdoor studio.  They then proceeded to each draw and paint the “figure”, selecting some as their collaborative works for this exhibition. The result is an intimate view of their life and their artistic process, something that would not normally be visible to the viewer.
