Gonzaga Concert Choir Performance Feb 26 Celebrates Black History Month

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga University Concert Choir and Timothy Westerhaus, conductor, will offer a free, public concert in celebration of Black History Month at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 26 in the Hemmingson Center Ballroom. The Choir will accept donations to benefit the Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Outreach Center.

Music selections include works representing African American spirituals, Gospel and the civil rights movement, including composers and arrangers such as Moses Hogan, Undine Smith Moore, Robert Shaw, J. Rosamund Johnson, Barbara Baker among others. Celeste Johnson will provide piano accompaniment and Freda Gandy, executive director of Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Outreach Center, will attend.
