Carlene Carter to perform at Gonzaga's Woldson Theater - Sept 26

Thursday, September 26, 2019

Singer-songwriter Carlene Carter is heiress to the legacy of the Carters, a family who forever influenced bluegrass, folk, gospel, and country music. With her debut album in 1978, Carlene Carter established herself on the edgier end of the country music spectrum, merging Nashville with contemporary rock and roll.  Like her 2014 album, Carter Girl, Carter’s performances reflect the many facets of her family’s pioneering work, from flowery lyrics and romantic themes to songs of faith and darker fare.

Carlene was recently featured in Ken Burns' PBS documentary series, "Country Music," talking about her grandma Maybelle, mother June, and all the others in her family tree. In her concert she will perform her own songs, share songs from the Carter family, and tell stories about her family and career in music.
