WSU Health Sciences Checkup

The year 2023 was an extraordinary one at WSU Spokane. Through your partnership, we continue to make a positive impact on healthcare through the education of health professionals and life-changing research.

This spring, we graduated an incredible class of 350 health professionals in Spokane and welcomed back nearly 1,500 Cougs enrolled in over 20 undergraduate, professional, and graduate degree programs this fall. Our students and our graduates can be found in every corner of Washington, saving lives and improving health outcomes for patients from all backgrounds and walks of life.

We celebrated the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine's establishment of a new pediatrics residency program in partnership with Providence Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, Community Cancer Fund, Premera Blue Cross, and the Children's Miracle Network. This residency program was the vision of our community's health leaders for decades and is the first of its kind in Eastern Washington. I look forward to meeting the inaugural group of residents this spring.

In August, we welcomed our community to campus to celebrate the newly renovated Medicine Building. This building was designed with students in mind, with collaborative, interprofessional learning spaces and the latest education technology. We are grateful to the State of Washington and our donors who invested in the next generation of Coug medical professionals.

These accomplishments, and many others, are thanks to the dedication and investment of many, yourself included. We cannot do what we do without our partners, our community leaders, and our incredible donors.

I hope you enjoy a few of our 2023 highlights below. Stay tuned for an exciting 2024 in Spokane and beyond.
