Women Helping Women Fund Announces 2018 Luncheon Results

May 24, 2018 - Spokane, Wash. -- Women Helping Women Fund proudly announces that they have raised over $317,000 at their Annual Benefit Luncheon which will be invested in 17 different local programs in our community this year. The size of each grant ranges from $10,000 to $29,500. The Benefit Luncheon held at the Spokane Convention Center on Tuesday, May 22nd was attended by over 1650 individuals and monies raised will be granted to the following organizations and programs:
Camp Fire of the Inland Northwest - Increasing Access to Summer Camps for Underserved Youth
Catholic Charities of Spokane - Childbirth & Parenting Assistance (CAPA) and Circle of Security
Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation - Women’s Educational Assistance Program
Humanities Washington - Prime Time Family Reading Program
Inland Northwest Farmers Market Association - Kids Eating Right – Nutrition and Exercise for Life
Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors Apprenticeship Program – Head Start for Women and Youth in the Construction Trade
Northeast Youth Center – Building Brighter Futures
Partners With Families & Children – Victims Support Services for Children and Families
Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho – Well Women Exams, Patient Assistance Fund
Second Harvest Inland Northwest – Mobile Market Fresh Bus
Spokane Valley Partners – Food for Thought
The Salvation Army – Sally’s House Emergency Foster Care Receiving Center

Women Helping Women Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and children to create healthy families and vibrant communities. This year’s Luncheon speaker was Dr. Tererai Trent, a world-renowned scholar and humanitarian who is leading the global charge in the fight for quality education for all children. Oprah Winfrey has named Dr. Trent as her all-time favorite guest.
At the Benefit Luncheon Dr. Trent shared an inspiring message about breaking the generational cycles of poverty and abuse. She encouraged attendees to pursue their dreams and recognize the interconnectedness of all people with the statement, “I am because we are.”
Over the past 26 years WHWF has funded over 470 grants, totaling more than $5 million, that focus on women and children. Funds stay local and grant recipients are thoroughly screened during an allocations process that includes site visits by board members. Visit whwfspokane.org to learn more.

The non-profit believes that empowering women & children builds healthy families & vibrant communities.
