EWU’s Get Lit! Festival - April 23-29

Sunday, April 29, 2018

Get Lit!, EWU's annual celebration of writing, reading, and storytelling, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This year, from April 23-29, you can enjoy a huge array of experiences—readings, interviews, workshops, panel discussions, poetry slams, writing contests, and events with beloved writers. We’re delighted to be joined by Anne Lamott at the Bing Crosby Theater on Saturday, April 28.

The wonderful, quirky Pie and Whiskey event takes place at 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, at the Washington Cracker Company Building. If you’re 21 or over, five dollars at the door gets you a slice of home-baked pie and a shot of Dry Fly whiskey while you listen to readings about ... pie and whiskey. This year’s readers include Jess Walter, Sam Ligon, and others.

Every year thousands of people from Spokane and beyond join in this unique week of literary celebration. Plus, every year we engage over 5,000 students, particularly in low-income, rural, and alternative schools, to help enhance students’ literacy skills, develop a love of reading and writing, and see the world in new ways.
