Citizens Invited to Open House about Proposed Sprague Project - March 29

Thursday, March 29, 2018

Project planning and scoping is getting under way to improve another section of Sprague Avenue—from Bernard east to Scott within the South University District. City of Spokane staff is collecting input and information from business and property owners, the neighborhood, and the public about what the project could include and how it can help improve transportation and ultimately the vitality of the area.

Citizens are invited to learn more about the project at a public open house:

  • Date: Thursday March 29
  • Time: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Location: Pride Prep Charter School at 811 E. Sprague Ave.

An online survey will be available soon to accept input as well.

The scoping work will consider lane configurations, streetscape improvements, lighting, signals, and stormwater work, along with the need to replace a water main and pavement. In particular, staff will have information about a potential left-turn lane at Browne, three traffic configuration options, and the possibility of incorporating bike lanes.

Currently, the City has funding for project scoping and then design. The City is evaluating potential options for construction funding and will focus on that after completing project scoping work. Construction wouldn’t occur until 2019 or later.
