The University District has the following elected director positions available (all three-year terms from January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2020):

  • At-large
  • Commercial development
  • Small business
  • Transportation
  • Real estate

Directors will be selected in part according to their demonstrated level of engagement with the University District and additional skills, perspectives and the resources they bring to the board (e.g., experience with medical business or financial institutions). Elected directors may serve two consecutive, three-year terms.

University District directors serve on two boards for the non-profit University District Development Association (UDDA) and the University District Public Development Authority (UDPDA). Please note that the latter organization’s meetings are subject to the state’s Open Public Meetings Act and Public Records Act. For more information, see http://www.atg.wa.gov/open-government-internet-manual.

Our directors are required to attend monthly board meetings (typically the first Tuesday of the month, from 2:00pm-4:00pm), participate on board committees, provide access to direct or in-kind resources, and abide by the board Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest Policies.

To be considered for an open board seat, please submit a completed application by Friday, October 13 at 9:00am via this link https://eSurv.org?u=UDBoardApply. Note that pursuant to the state's Public Records Act (RCW 42.56), applications submitted for board positions are public records and may be subject to public disclosure.
No advance information regarding the status of your application will be provided prior to November 7, at which time the board plans to vote on the positions. After the meeting, we will contact all applicants regarding the board’s decision and post the newly elected members names on our website http://www.spokaneudistrict.org/board-documents. Newly elected members will be asked to attend the annual board retreat on Tuesday, December 5.
