Calling all urban design entries
The city is seeking entries for the Spokane Mayor’s Urban Design Awards. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of celebrating people who are building the City of Choice. These biennial awards highlight the importance of creative thought, technical proficiency, and the relationship of good urban design to the city’s economic health and overall well-being.
Entries must be submitted by noon on Aug. 1. Award and submission information is available online.
In case you missed them, following are other recent city happenings of significance.
- A new permit alert system, called NotifyMeSpokane, allows you to research construction projects and sign up for daily alerts about building, engineering and/or planning permits.
- City streets will receive an additional $1 million infusion in street repair work to address arterials damaged by the extreme wet weather over the past six months.
The City of Spokane celebrated Earth Day by announcing it has effectively achieved net zero energy consumption across all municipal facilities and services, saving taxpayer dollars and helping to protect the environment.
