The event is hosted by the Gonzaga University School of Business Administration. Beyond her teaching position, she is co-director of the Program in Monetary Economics at the National Bureau of Economic Research. In that role, she helped formulate a response to the 18-monthlong Great Recession that began in December 2007; in addition, she contributed to President Obama’s health reform legislation.

Romer’s areas of expertise include economic history, macroeconomics and causes of the Great Depression. Now, she is researching the impact of financial crises in advanced economies. Her awards and honors include the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award, fellowships from the Alfred P.
